Question for Mike the Tiger’s veterinarian: “Do you play with Mike the Tiger? Can I?” – Kate Fenn, mass communication sophomore
Answer: “We interact with him daily to maintain the bond between us. We talk to him, scratch him, and give him treats.  It would not be safe for students to play with him.” – Dr. David G. Baker, LSU’s attending veterinarian

Question for baseball coach Paul Mainieri: “Can you get me a date with Sean Ochinko?” – Ashley Norsworthy, English senior
Answer: “No…Sean has signed professionally and will not be back in school this fall. However, we have lots of great guys on the team that would make better dates than Ochinko anyway!” – Coach Paul Mainieri

Question for the University Recreation: “What’s taking so long to fix the UREC basketball courts?” – Josh Tate, biological engineering junior
Answer: “Due to the extent and cost of the damage to gymnasium, right around $2 million, the renovation/repair was placed under the control of the State.  Since we are a state owned facility all major projects, like ours, has to be run through the State Office of Facility Planning and Control.  In mid November of 2008 the State selected a local Architect Firm, Remson/Haley/Herpin Architects, to design and oversee the renovation.  The process of design, development, review, and final construction documents took around four months.  The bidding process and finalization of contract documents took another 45 days.  Once the contract was awarded, to the contractor, there was an allotted time period of around 30 – 45 days for the delivery of needed construction material.  The renovation began on July 6 and is scheduled to be completed by October 31.  Happy to say we are right on schedule.  Additionally, the lockers are slated to be replaced starting Nov. 18 with a completion date of Jan. 2.  As you can tell the timeframe, for this project, is quite extensive.  We have worked very diligently to compress the timeframe as tight as possible and though it might not seem fast this process has actually moved along very quickly.” – Michael Giles, Jr., LSU University Recreation, Associate Director of Operations & Project Management

Question for the College of Engineering: “Why don’t they consider making some engineering majors a five-year program?” – Jason Skias, construction management senior
Answer: “Engineering curricula nationwide are structured on a four year plan and doable in that timeframe for those who plan for school to be a full time job.  Surveys indicate that 75%  of our students work 15 or more hours per week, 35% work 20 hours or more, all for a variety of reasons.  We do have a number of students finishing in 4 years with a handful doing it in less.” – Dr. Warren N. Question for Trindon Holliday: “How do you feel when you stand next to Herman Johnson?” – Doug Ferrara, construction management freshman
Answer: “I’ve gotten used to always being the short guy, but when you stand next to someone as tall as Big Herm, you can’t help but feel like a midget. But I’m not complaining, I’m 5 [feet], 5 [inches tall] and he’s almost seven feet tall. It’s makes it easy for me to hide behind him when I get the ball.” – Trindon Holliday, senior running back

Question for a Facility Services employee: “What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever cleaned up?” – Ben Friedmann, sociology senior
Answer: “The weirdest thing I’ve ever had to clean up has to be vomit in the bathrooms. It’s almost a guarantee that there’s going to be vomit after football games.” – Glen Ferguson, housekeeping at the Union
